Where Things Stand

  • Deportation flights: A Justice Department lawyer repeatedly refused to answer questions from a federal judge trying to determine whether the White House violated a court order in deporting more than 200 migrants to El Salvador with little to no due process. The lawyer, Abhishek Kambli, said he was authorized to provide only limited information because of “national security concerns.” The judge directed the government to provide more information on the flights by noon on Tuesday.  Read more ›

  • Pardon claims: President Trump claimed pardons issued to his political opponents by former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. were invalid, an assertion made in a social media post that embraced a baseless conspiracy theory.
