This was a disappointing discussion because none of the participants directly addressed the real issue of what is classic and what is foundational. I feel very fortunate that I read everyone from Plato (not Pluto) Andy Socrates to David Walker, Martin Delaney, Eric Williams, CLR James as well as Frantz Fanon, Kwame Nkrumah, Sartre, Camus and countless others. The Egyptian Book of the Dead and the writings of Anton Diop are all classics. The issue not addressed directly was the whitewashing of our cultural heritage at the expense of African and African American classics. For me this was a shallow and disappointing discussion. What s your opinion?
